Kashmir Itinerary
Day 1 : Arrival srinagar and drive to Pahalgam night stay
Pahalgam 2440 Mtrs known as Valley of Shepherds
Visit Saffron fields- There are multiple shops selling Saffron here and one can buy from here instead of Srinagar.
Avantipur ruins which is an eleven hundred years old temple.
Day 2 : Pahelgam
Visit Betaab Valley, Chandanwari and Aru Valley.
It has to be done in a Union taxi which is easily available for ₹2400 for all three places.
The driver will drop you for an hour and in case you dont get back in an hour from a particular place he will charge ₹400 per hour.
The places actually need more than an hour to explore so its worth paying waiting charges.
Baisaran Valley - Its also called mini Switzerland and worth visit. But only way to go is through horses.
There are multiple activities at all these places and one can enjoy but everything has extra charges.
Day 3 : Srinagar
1.Dal Lake Shikara boat ride - Its most popular thing to do and worth experiencing. However, please bargain as they charge high prices.
Shikara Ride during sunset is extremely beautiful.
2.Nishat Bagh - Nishat Bagh is a garden of bliss that commands a magnificent view of the lake beneath the snow-capped Pir Panjal mountain range that stands far away to the west of the valley. The Bagh was designed and built in 1633 by Asif Khan, elder brother of Nur Jehan
Its right opposite Dal Lake and is worth visiting.
3.Shalimar Bagh: It is here that Emperor Jahangir built his celebrated Shalimar Bagh, his dream project to please his queen. He enlarged the ancient garden in 1619 into a royal garden and called it 'Farah Baksh' ('the delightful'). He built it for his wife Nur Jahan ('light of the world') In 1630
Its huge and beautiful for sure.
4.Cheshma Shahi: Chashme Shahi or Chashma i Shahi (translation: the royal spring), also called Chashma Shahi, is one of the Mughal gardens built in 1632 AD around a spring by Ali Mardan Khan, a governor of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as per the orders of the Emperor, as a gift for his elder son Prince Dara Shikoh.
PARI MAHAL: Pari Mahal or The Angels' Abode is a seven terraced garden located at the top of Zabarwan mountain range overlooking city of Srinagar and south-west of Dal Lake.[1] The architecture depicts an example of Islamic architecture and patronage of art during the reign of the then Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. It is a five-minute drive from Cheshmashahi, Srinagar. The Pari Mahal was built by Mughal Prince Dara Shikoh in the mid-1600s. It served as a library and an abode for him. Dara Shikoh was said to have lived in this area in the years 1640, 1645, and 1654. It was further used as an observatory, useful for teaching astrology and astronomers.
To reach here, one has to pay ₹50/p and hop into a tempo traveler from the taxi stand near Dal Lake. It will drop you to Pari Mahal first and then to Cheshmeshahi. There are multiple tempo travelers and one can get back in same after visiting these places. Its 50₹/ p for round trip to both places.
Shankaracharya Temple: The Shankaracharya Temple, also known as the Jyoteshwar temple or Pas-Pahar by Buddhists. Shankracharya Temple, it was renamed as Takht-e-Suleiman, is situated on the top of the Shankaracharya Hill, also called Gopadari Hill in the Zabarwan Mountain in Srinagar. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is on the summit of the same name at a height of 1,000 feet (300 m) above the plain and overlooks the city of Srinagar
All the above places would take not more than half a day in Srinagar as they are all located in close proximity.
Day 4 : Srinagar to Gulmarg day trip
One can stay here in Gulmarg or also do a day trip.
Gulmarg is a town, a hill station, a popular skiing destination. The town is situated in the Pirpanjal range & legendary beauty, its prime location and its proximity to Srinagar naturally make it one of the premier hill resorts in country originally named Gaurimarg mouth a moat indicates the dividing it was renamed Gulmarg in the 16th century by Sultan Yusuf Shah, who was inspired by the sight of its grassy slopes emblazoned with wild flowers. Gulmarg was a favorite haunt of Emperor Jahangir who once collected 21 different varieties of flowers.
Gondola ride tickets has to be booked 1 month before from the government website.
It's totally worth visiting and infact not to be missed place.
Both phases offer mesmerizing views.
Day 5: Srinagar to Sonmarg day trip
This is something one can skip and either go to Dhoodh patri too.
Once you reach taxi stand in Sonmarg, you have to hire taxi for Zero point, Kargil War Memorial or Horses to reach Thajawas Glacier.
The roads towards Zero point are not in good condition.
Views are beautiful and one can expect Snow ay Zero point even in the month of July.
Day 6: Srinagar local shopping or head back home.
