Phi Phi The Beach Resort , Thailand
1.The resort has accessibility for guests only through boat. This is one point to be kept while deciding to stay here as one cannot go out other than by taking a boat to nearest pier. Every time you take a boat from hotel, it is on chargeable basis both ways.
2.Resort provides pickup from the nearest pier that is Tonsai pier. Staff would be holding the hotel's placard. The staff will then help you with the luggage. It's a 5-10 mins boat ride from Tonsai pier towards the resort.
3.The resort is beautiful beyond words and the pictures posted are very close to real ones. The beach is clean and views are picturesque. Its worth staying here as the rooms are beautiful, resort has pool right on the beach , restaurants on the beach.
4.We had booked standard room with no view and got it upgraded once we saw the room. We stayed in ocean view room which had a huge balcony and beautiful view. We stayed in Superior Villa with partial sea view. The room was super clean, huge and beautiful. Washrooms were also very clean and had set of toiletries.
5.There is a proper trek to head towards the room and it's difficult to come down to reception or vice versa every time you step out of the room. The rooms are sort of on the cliff and one needs to think twice to come down to beach or trek up.
6.Resort has it's own golf cart service but it's not available all the time and one might have to walk down or climb back to the room which is a task. Specially for elders or senior citizens.
7.Hotel Staff is very helpful and nice to talk to.They try to help guests as much as possible.(For example- We were missing our breakfast as we had taken 4 island tour but on request they kept aside a good portion of breakfast for us ).
8.We had taken a tour for the next day morning for Maya Bay, Bamboo Island Monkey Island, Viking Caves and other such places. We took a tour package from hotel itself. It was bit on higher side but we never wanted to go to Tonsai pier to book one. That would have costed us extra two rides to pier. First one to book and second one to take the tour.
Now reality check of what we actually did on this tour is -
We could only go to Maya Bay after a lot of insistence to go early morning.
We could'nt go to cave as the caves were closed since few months (which was not told to us while booking)
We did not go to Monkey Beach as there were no monkeys that early in morning (8am) as per the guide.
Bamboo island had high tide so we couldn't go.
We had taken a private boat only for two people and did not find it worth after experiencing the above.
The cost of the tour was on high side as it was directly from hotel but we did not find it worth for the above mentioned reason.
9.Vegetarian food options were minimal and we had to request staff. They were very nice to help us with one portion of fried rice with some veggies per person. It was filling and scrumptious. (Most of the hotels/resorts in Thailand offer same thing to vegetarians- Fried Rice with Stir Fried Vegetables of your choice).
10.Food was tasting good as we had also tried veg pizza and few other vegetarian dishes on request.
11.We found the resort worth the money and can be considered while planning a trip to Phi Phi Island. Best part is its extremely beautiful, calm and has mesmerizing views to offer.
17. There was a fire show on the beach on Saturday night. It was very nice and fun to experience.
